We believe in freedom.

We believe that America is both a place and an idea

and that the idea of America lies deep within the hearts of every man and woman

in every corner of the world who yearns for freedom.

We believe in exporting the American idea to all who yearn for freedom

solving the most intractable problems in the world’s most dangerous places

bringing the best of America to those enduring the worst of circumstances.

We believe that solutions to the most enduring global challenges–from human trafficking to protracted civil conflicts, food insecurity to government corruption, transnational organized crime to genocidal dictatorships–lie in the collective resources and synergistic efforts of the corporate, non-profit and government sectors.

The OUTSIDE AMERICA FOUNDATION creates platforms that couple the world’s most effective humanitarian organizations with the best of problem solvers, crisis managers, strategic thinkers and innovators.

We build bridges to the most remote, provide security in the most dangerous, protect the most vulnerable, and bring light into the darkest of the world’s dark corners.

Since 2013, Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro has headed a repressive authoritarian regime, overseeing the catastrophic deterioration of a once-thriving economy, systematic suppression of democratic institutions and opposition voices, and widespread human rights abuses, including thousands of unlawful imprisonments and extrajudicial killings that target both political opponents and the poorest of Venezuelan communities. According to the UN, Maduro regime economic policies and human rights atrocities have led to the largest refugee crisis in human history, with over 7.7 Venezuelans forced from their homes. The Haitian republic, the second-oldest in the Western Hemisphere, stands on the brink of collapse. Since a 2010 earthquake near Port-au-Prince, Haiti has suffered a barrage of natural disasters and public health crises. Its criminal organizations have capitalized on the chaos, wresting control of most of Haiti from civil sector institutions, resulting in widespread kidnappings, extortion, sexual crimes, drug trafficking and theft of humanitarian aid, fuel, water and electricity. Haiti’s growing security vacuum culminated in the 2021 assassination of its president, the last of its elected government officials. Tap here to learn more about the Haiti project
In February 2021, the Myanmar military overthrew its democratically elected government and installed a ruling junta. Following the coup d’etat, the junta turned its weapons of war against its own people, targeting ethnic minorities, bombing schools, hospitals and displacement camps, burning villages, forcing over 3 million from their homes, committing widespread acts of terrorism, torture and mass executions.  The UN has declared a “perpetual human rights crisis.” Tap here to learn more about the Myanmar project
